He used to publicly ridicule the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Church and the Christians. As he was engaged in a heated debate, he became paralysed. One of those whom he was abusing and cursing took him to the hospital, where he was treated by doctors and nurses from the community that he hated. But for the goodness of these people, he would not have survived. The father of a wayward son, who demolished a cross on the pinnacle of a church, would come to the same church to plead and intercede to the Lord Jesus that he may not judge his son. The fear of God, the God of Christians, is there in the minds and hearts of others. Though they may publicly speak haughtily against Christ, in heart, they are scared about the immediate, as well as the eternal future.
Cannot overcome: Haman was wicked, haughty, and had murderous intentions to destroy all the people of God, the Israelites. Haman’s wife and close counsellors warned Haman that he could never defeat the Jewish people, who are the covenant people of God. “And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not overcome him but will surely fall before him.” (Esther 6:13) People like Haman could conspire, indulge in hooliganism, and even kill some Christians, but could never overcome the children of God.
Great Name: God is the creator, Sovereign ruler, righteous judge, and His name is Great. Those who have heard about Him fear Him and desire to come under the protection of his wings. Rahab and her contemporaries had heard how God had divided the Red Sea for Israel and also the defeat of the Amorite kings. Hence, people in Jericho feared the God of Heaven and Earth. (Joshua 2:11) In modern times, God’s greatness, His holiness, His judgment, and His mighty deeds are proclaimed daily.
