There are many cricket fans. Few of them are followers of a team or an individual. It has been found that the players are influenced by betting syndicates, who pay huge sum as bribes to few players to make a team lose so that those who bet could get huge money. Even though it is not about game, it is about the power play between wealthy people, who gain by betting, people love, follow, watch such events and pay money for tickets too. The general attitude of the people today is: “Truth does not matter. Does it give us excitement? Then enjoy it.” Hence, sociologists call today’s society as Post-Truth society.
However, 2700 years before Prophet Isaiah gave a splendid commentary about Post-Truth society. “No one enters suit justly; no one goes to law honestly; they rely on empty pleas, they speak lies, they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity.” (Isaiah 59:4)
1) No absolute truth: When people do not believe in One God, they decide that there is no absolute truth, but multiple truths.
2) Truth is relative: When there is no absolute, standard for truth, there are several truths with which other facts could be compared. That means all are right according to their determined standards.
3) Truth is subjective: There are others who feel in gut feeling, imaginations, or emotional experience. They feel that something is true, then it is true. Another person could feel the opposite as truth, s/he is also right.
4) Truth is objective: When some people feel that truth is only objective, i.e., visible, tested, experimented, and proven in laboratory.
Biblical worldview is: Truth is revealed. Human beings are finite, have limited capacity to think or reason or search or observe. With this rational power humans cannot fathom infinite God or His works or Will or mind. Hence God graciously revealed Himself (eternal power and divine attributes through creation; Word of God (Bible) and Son, Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:20; Hebrews 1:2)
Do I know the Truth, Lord Jesus Christ?
