Pride and justification

A small girl, probably 12 years, was travelling with her father in a car. Police stopped the car as the father and daughter were not wearing masks, as per Covid-19 protocol. A fine was imposed and the girl opposed and spoke rudely with the police constable. She mocked the police stating ‘she did not speak English, then there is no need to wear mask while sitting inside the car and she had no Covid 19 symptoms.’ (Sun Tv 15 April 2021) This is symptomatic of pathetic parenting today.
1) No respect for elders: Bible commands: “You shall stand up before the grey head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:32) The parents of the girl did not teach respect to elders. In daily interactions in the society, even older people from low economic or social (caste) status are not respected. Sometimes, children ridicule, tease, and mock servants, drivers, security personnel, parking assistants…etc. Sadly, parents are also not an example.
2) No respect for authorities: Police in their uniforms ought to be respected and obeyed. They represent the government. The child did not understand authority and did not know obedience. “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” (Romans 13:1)
3) No respect for Law: The laws are designed for the good of society generally. Covid 19 protocol provides safety for individuals, families and the society. The girl’s understanding about law or rules is negative and for her it should be broken with impunity.
Bible declares: Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 9:10) When children are not taught to fear God, they can never get wisdom to live a righteous life. This proud girl could speak English fluently, though from a small town, had intellectual ability, but lacked moral sense, common sense and social sense. She did not have humility to confess and ask forgiveness.
Do I have humility to repent, correct and learn?
