Rooster kills master!

Cockfighting was banned in India since 1960, however, illegal betting and hosting cockfight happens in many parts of Telangana including the village of Lothunur. One cock that was fitted with a knife for an illegal cockfight tried to escape. When its owner tried to stop, he was impaled in the groin. He died on the way to hospital from a loss of blood. (BBC news 28 February 2021) This man was doing an illegal thing. The rooster was trained to attack other roosters in fight. Sadly, it used that weapon against the master. In fact, training rooster to be a fighter is illegal, risky and dangerous to other roosters as well as audience. Playing with sin also a risky affair that could be bring eternal consequences.

Bible warns against Satan, Sin and Temptation. ‘Deceitfulness of sin’ is real and is everyday struggle for a Christian. (Hebrews 3:13) Satan is compared with lion whose intention is to kill, destroy and devour. (John 10:10; I Peter 5:8) Sin presents itself as attractive and enticing but leads to death. (Proverbs 5:3-5) Sin is crouching at the door, attempting to overcome. (Genesis 4:7)

Being on guard is important. Carelessness could be dangerous. Minor or innocent looking acts could have deadly consequence. Simple act of eating a forbidden fruit caused fall of humanity. (Genesis 3:6) Looking back at the city of Sodom made Lot’s wife a pillar of salt. (Genesis 19:26) Hitting a rock by Moses cost him an opportunity to enter the Promised Land. (Numbers 20:11) Touching the Ark of the Covenant and lying invited sudden death. (II Samuel 6:7; Acts 5:1-11)

Paul writes that believers should not be ignorant or naïve or foolish about Satan’s design or strategy and be outwitted by him. (II Corinthians 2:11) The Word of God and the Spirit of God gives us wisdom, courage and strength to confront Satan and be overcomers.
