As the Scripture teaches, neither sin can enter heaven, nor unrighteous inherit the Kingdom of God. (Revelation 21:27; I Corinthians 6:9-11) Hence, Lucifer was expelled from heaven.
Lucifer: God created Lucifer as a powerful, intelligent, and beautiful; in fact, a perfect angelic being. He was also one of the three chief angels. His name Lucifer means ‘Shining One”. Lucifer also had free will to choose and he decided to choose foolishness and wickedness, as recorded in Isaiah and Ezekiel. (Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:13-17) Sin sprouts when there is an absence of faith, gratefulness, humility, and contentment.
Lack of faith: Lucifer enjoyed his cosmic life. He must have been revealed by God that God had created him. Though as a created being, he had power, will, and knowledge, yet, he is not God – a creature. Lucifer might not have been able to accept this. Lucifer must have thought that God came into existence by himself and so did Lucifer himself. Lucifer did not have faith to believe in God and his Word. Lucifer may admit that God is first among equals but not above him. This is the same attitude that people think they came into existence by themselves or by evolutionary process.
Lack of gratefulness: A grain of faith would have helped Lucifer to be grateful. If he had accepted his status as a created being and one of the leaders of angelic beings, he would have been grateful to God. The absence of gratefulness leads to murmuring, resentment, bitterness, and even revenge. Lack of contentment is also grounds for ungratefulness to grow fast. Lucifer compared himself with God and aspired to become God to get all the privileges, the primary being worship of others.
Lack of humility: Lucifer was not humble but proud, even arrogant. His ambitions were beyond the boundaries or limits set by God. Lucifer had power and freedom. However, Lucifer failed to recognize that power has limitations and so was freedom. While God is Almighty, Lucifer could be mighty at the best. Lucifer cannot infringe on the domain of God like the privilege of worship.
Am I grateful, humble, and have faith in God?
