One wise man said: “It is better to have a surplus, as it is easier to manage the surplus than the scarcity.” Yes, having a surplus, if properly managed, could cover the time of scarcity also. Joseph was given the task of collecting grains during the seven years of surplus or bumper harvest and storing them for the next seven years of famine. (Genesis 41:8) In the Kingdom of God there is more scarcity because of laziness, lethargic attitude, lukewarm mindset, and lack of commitment. There are at least seven scarcities.
Scarcity of Workers: The Lord Jesus Christ said that the Harvest is Plenty, but the harvesters are few. (Matthew 9:37-38) It is a perpetual problem in the ministry of the church and its mission to regions and spheres beyond, hence the fulfillment of The Great Commission is delayed.
Scarcity of the Word of God: In the Last Days there would be Famine for the Word of God. (Amos 8:11-12) It is not about the availability of Bibles or accessibility of the bible in digital versions, but those who preach, teach, and instruct with truthfulness, honesty, and integrity.
Scarcity of Faith: In the Last Days, when the Lord comes in the Glory of His Second Coming, will there be enough people of faith or people of God be faithful? (Luke 18:7-8)
Scarcity of righteousness: By God’s holy standards, there is none, not even one who is righteous. (Romans 3:10) Only relatively or comparatively some are better than the other like Noah was righteous among his contemporaries. (Genesis 6:19)
Scarcity of intercessors: There was not even one who could stand in the gap and intercede for the perishing and faithless people. (Ezekiel 22:30)
Scarcity of preparedness: Fifty percent of the virgins who were invited for the Wedding function, could not join. The lack of preparedness disqualified them from joining the feast. (Matthew 25:1-13)
Scarcity of priority: There are numerous in the church who say they toil for the Kingdom of God. But most of them do not have the Kingdom as their priority.
Am I a cause of scarcity in His Kingdom?
