WWW has penetrated all aspects of modern life. WWW could be a wonderful tool that enhances connectivity, communication, and community building. If we are not wise, we could self-inflict ourselves with mortal wounds. “For in vain is a net spread in the sight of any bird, but these men lie in wait for their own blood; they set an ambush for their own lives. (Proverbs 1:17-18)
1) World Wide Web: John warns against the principles of the world: desire of eyes, desire of flesh/body and pride of life. (I John 2:15-16) There is a wide gate and broad way that only leads to death; narrow way leads to life. (Matthew 7:13-14) Web is a net that is laid to trap ignorant, careless, and indifferent people.
2) Worldliness, Wickedness, Wilderness: Digital media has influenced the younger generation both positively and negatively. When the World Wide Web (WWW) is not handled properly, it could lead to another WWW. Worldly attraction could corrupt a person to be entangled in wickedness. Majority of the participants in the Social Media disregard truth, as this media is also termed as Post-truth media. Though hyper-connected, many go through loneliness and other mental diseases. Sadly, they could be exposed to demonic activities, including witchcraft.
3) Weeping, Wailing and Wallowing: The proverbial ‘apple’ that promises knowledge of good and evil leads in the path of destruction, disaster, and death. The result of simple or stupid who become slave of smart phone will experience weeping and wailing. They will wallow in their sin, hopelessness, delusion, and depression. Ultimately, end up in the Lake of Fire.
The Lord Jesus continues to pray for us as He prayed for His disciples. “I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.” (John 17:15) Without Lord’s grace and protection, anyone could be swallowed into the blackhole of social media. We have to hold on to the most holy faith so that the Lord may keep us from falling. (Jude 24-25)
