Daily medicine

One elderly man was narrating his agony of taking seven different tablets and capsules every day. Taking the medicine was an ordeal for him. Each had a distinct color, shape, and size. He asked another person: “Do you also take medicines?” He was quite healthy and did not want to disappoint his friend. He said he takes seven pills each morning. Surprised and glad, he had a person who is journeying the same path and asked about the details. He listed the pills and explained:
Gratefulness: The first pill is thanking God for the new day. Each day is a bonus, a gift from the Lord. Being alive is itself a celebration of gratefulness.
Humility: God is gracious to the humble and is against the proud. (James 4:6) This pill gives God’s sufficient, adequate, supplement, complement grace.
Love: God’s love is good for the heart as it is poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. (Romans 5:5) God is love, his love transforms and overwhelms a person with amazing peace.
Faith: The righteous will live by faith. (Hebrews 10:38) Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17) Reading or listening, meditating, and praying based on the Scripture strengthens a person to be alive for God’s purposes.
Hope: Though the body may become frail, and finances dry up, the hope does not diminish. Eternal life in the celestial city of New Jerusalem is the final destination. The hope based on God’s Word, Promises, and Christ who rose from the dead will not make a believer ashamed or disappointed. (Romans 5:5)
Joy: The joy of the Lord is the strength of a believer. (Nehemiah 8:10) Joyful or cheerful heart is the best medicine. (Proverbs 17:22)
Peace: Lord Jesus promised the Shalom, the wholesome peace that the world can neither give, nor take it away. (John 14:27) Paul writes that the peace which God gives is beyond human comprehension. (Philippians 4:7)
