Dangerous wrong diagnosis

If doctors are unable to diagnose properly, people could suffer. One research done by the John Hopkins School of Medicine states that misdiagnosis of disease caused fatalities and permanent disabilities to about 800,000 people in America in a year. The top five most often misdiagnosed illnesses were lung cancer, sepsis, pneumonia, venous thromboembolism (blood clots in veins), and stroke. (NDTV news 22 July 2023) The deadliest disease misdiagnosed is sin. The Biblical diagnosis for sin is death unless there is repentance and reception of God’s gift of salvation. (Romans 3:23; 6:23)

Denial: One philosophy Monism teaches that there are no two aspects like good and evil, darkness and light…etc. Hence, there is no sin. No one is a sinner and does not need a savior. In contrast, the Bible teaches that sin is distinct from holiness, also portrayed as darkness, while God is light.

Ignorance: Some philosophies consider sin as ignorance. Hence, it should be excused. In the world, the ignorance of law is no excuse. If a person does not stop when the traffic signal is red, they will be punished. He cannot claim that he was ignorant of the law. In the same way, ignorance of truth has no excuse. Paul writes that God has revealed himself in nature where his divine attributes and power are evident.

Bible diagnosis; Inherited sin: All human beings are descendants of the first couple: Adam and Eve. In God’s sight, all human beings are sinners. King David expressed it well. (Psalms 51:5)

Biblical diagnosis: the sin of commission: All have committed sins and have fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Missing the mark of God’s standards, disobedience, rebellion, lawlessness, crossing the limits -trespass, unrepentance, and rejection of Lord Jesus Christ.

Biblical diagnosis: sin of omission: When a person does not do good, when it is in his power to do so, is sin. (James 4:17)

Repentance: God demands repentance, forsaking of sin, and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins, was buried, rose again, and seated in Heaven.
