Disciples of the Lord are radically transformed. Paul writes of the fruits of light that are moral excellence, goodness, righteousness, and truth. (Ephesians 5:8-9) The Lord Jesus Christ is the Light of the World. His disciples are also called the children of light, who reflect and radiate His light. (John 8:12; Ephesians 5:8; I Thessalonians 5:5)
Transformation: Paul writes that humans live in darkness, but darkness itself. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Hence, they are blind and possessed by darkness. (Romans 3:23) The light of the gospel dispels darkness and changes the identity, value, and purpose of a person.
Dynamic life: When a person comes to the Lord, s/he is completely transformed into the core of their being. They become a new creation. (II Corinthians 5:17) Their spiritual core is light; hence their mind is renewed, their lifestyle is changed, their worldview is transformed, and they get a godly attitude. They priorities the Kingdom of God, live as Kingdom citizens, and follow the Kingdom ethics of righteousness.
Fruit of life: God’s goodness is manifested through the life of believers. They demonstrate love, compassion, graciousness, generosity, gratitude, and gentleness. God declares them righteous, and God leads them in the path of righteousness. The right relationship with God transforms their inclination towards what is right, just, fair, and reasonable. As followers of The Truth, they practice honesty, integrity, loyalty, faithfulness, and trustworthiness. As they meditate on the Scripture day and night, they give fruit in season, such as fruit of repentance, the fruit of the Spirit, the fruit of the lips, which is thankfulness, and the fruit of leading others from darkness to light, which are all evident.
Delightful life: The people of God rejoice in Him and imitate Christ. (I Corinthians 11:1) Like the Christians in Antioch, they excel in moral standards and exemplify the characteristics of Christ. (Acts 11:26) It means to walk in the footsteps of the Lord. (Hebrews 12:1-2; I Peter 2:21) Their whole life reveals God’s love, compassion, and holiness.
