Heart, mind and tongue

A dashboard is provided in cars, airplanes, ships…etc. It is a small screen for the driver or pilot could see that is connected to all parts of the vehicle. It indicates if all parts of the vehicle are in a good condition, enough fuel is there, and safety seatbelt worn…etc. If there is any fault, dashboard shows red sign, so that immediate attention is taken. For human being the dashboard is the mouth or tongue or words a person speaks.

1) Abundant Heart: “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34) People seek God’s word from the mouth of a priest. (Malachi 2:7) For that priest should prepare himself by filling his mind and heart with the Word of God. A person cannot preach about ‘prayer’ when he hardly prays. Knowledge, proficiency and effective practice bring abundance in heart. Lord gives a new heart for those who believe and receive. (Ezekiel 36:26) Heart should be filled with wisdom of God. (James 3:13-18)

2) Grateful heart: “In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.” (Job 1:22) Job had complete faith in God, who was good, perfect and will never do injustice. He was grateful when he lost everything as he was when he had all worldly possessions. His possessions does not determine the character or attributes of God. Gratefulness is a spiritual discipline that comes by consistent practice.

3) Perfect heart: “And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. “(James 3:2) Spiritual maturity, wisdom, fruit of Spirit, diligence, truthfulness, stewardship and productivity are the marks of a perfect person. He does not speak any empty words or evil words or idle words. (Matthew 12:36) Perfect man is full of love and his words are not clanging cymbal or resounding gong. (I Corinthians 13:1)
