The advertisement read: Listen to your dog. Globally, in many countries, such advertisements have become a norm. Such initiatives are to develop better relationships between pets and their owners. Listening to a dog also means knowing the needs of a pet dog that it is unable to express. Owners are advised to proactively care for their unmet needs.
Object of love and adoration: For many, a pet becomes a god because it becomes an obsessive object of love. Sadly, some prioritize their family members, including their spouse and children. When priority and prominence are given to a pet, other relationships are neglected and ignored. The main reason is that a pet like a dog is loving, faithful, obedient, and submissive, while humans, including children, are not.
Parent of pets: Some couples have become parents of pets, choosing not to have children. A few single men and women have chosen pets to forget their loneliness. They prefer the company of a pet rather than humans.
Listen: The advertisement calls to listen to pets. As they do not communicate in words, it is a skill to understand the needs of a pet. Listening to such clues about the pet helps the master to take care of it well. Strangely, pets neither give counsel nor direction.
Demands attention: Like the pets, in the spiritual realm, there are many noises, voices, and shouts that try to drown the genuine voice of God. The diversion tactics of Satan are to make humans deaf to God’s voice, but listen to other noises. Even to listen to pets, skills and focus are needed in spiritual life.
His voice: Prophet Isaiah writes: “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21) God is neither dumb nor deaf. He is not blind either. Hence, God speaks when humans walk in their own ways, turning onto the wrong path or going astray, redirecting them to the right path.
Do I train my ears to listen to the voice of God and His Spirit?
