Frivolous charges, Justice denied

Police constable Babubhai Prajapati was alleged to have received Rs 20 as a bribe and was charged in 1996. The case dragged on; in 2004, he was awarded four years in jail and Rs. 3000 as a fine. He challenged this in the Gujarat High Court, and the case was pending for 22 years. After 30 years in jail, he was acquitted on all charges in February 2026. Sadly, the next day after his release, he died from a heart attack. (NDTV 7 February 2026) God condemned Israel for making justice as wormwood and throwing righteousness into the mud. (Amos 5:7)
Allegations are false witnesses: Many people are condemned by allegations made by someone else. Joseph was thrown into prison on a false allegation made by the wife of Potiphar. Strangely, Potiphar did not hold a court to know the truth. Arbitrarily, he threw Joseph in prison. (Gensis 39:12-20) False allegation is false witness, which is the ninth of the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20:16) The Chief Priest and Sanhedrin summoned false witnesses against Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 26:59) Naboth was killed based on false witnesses conspired by Jezebel. (I Kings 21: 5-13)
Accusations with evidence: When anyone brings a charge against someone, they should have evidence to back it up. In the world today, even evidence could be created using various digital tools, including AI.
Judges: Many prisoners are left in prison on allegations or petty offences. They spend decades in jail for no reason. Sadly, the judges are not proactive in dealing with cases with urgency. An appeal has been pending in court for 22 years. It shows the callousness of the officials, police, and even jail wardens. If Prajapati had not appealed, perhaps he would have endured just four years and could have been free.
God of justice: God is righteous, and he loves justice. As disciples of the Lord, the Church should raise young people to become lawyers and bring reforms into the system. So, innocents are not punished by a system. A compassionate and caring system is needed to bring about changes.
Do I love and seek justice and righteousness?
