Obey God, not men

There are five examples in the Bible, where people of God defied human authorities that were contradictory to God’s laws.
Apostles: Refused to stop preaching
The Apostles were warned not to preach in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. They were flogged and arrested. Yet, they continued to preach the gospel. When the authorities confronted them, they said: “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:27-29) Preaching the gospel is commanded by the Risen Lord who has all authority over heaven and the earth. (Matthew 28:18) Hence, human laws that forbid preaching of the gospel, baptizing people, and making disciples should be disobeyed, but submissive to face the consequences.
The midwives: Refused to murder
The Egyptian Pharaoh wanted to perpetuate the slavery of the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He was shrewd to command the midwives to kill the male babies of Hebrew women during childbirth. The midwives feared God and refused to obey the command of Pharaoh to kill the male babies at birth. (Exodus 1:17)
Parents of Moses: Refused to give up children
The Parents of Moses disobeyed Pharaoh’s command to throw male babies into the river Nile. Amram and Jochebed decided not to throw away the male baby when he was born. They hid the child for about three months. It was not possible to hide anymore, so they obeyed Pharaoh on their own terms. They made a waterproof basket and placed it among the bushes in the river, and Pharoah’s daughter found him and adopted him.
Three young men: Refused to bow before a statue
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego disobeyed Nebuchadnezzar who built a huge statue plated with gold. The three young men refused to bow down, even when they were thrown into fire. (Daniel 3:13-18)
Daniel Prayed: Refused to pray to the king
The 120 Satraps of Babylon influenced King Darius to pass a law that made all prayers except to Darius illegal for thirty days. Daniel as usual prayed, ignoring the law. (Daniel 6:10)
Do I obey God or humans?
