A ‘Parrot astrologer’ dupes an Income Tax official of Rs 35 lakh in the guise of a special ritual. The official trusted this person who promised to improve his career prospects, life and would need to perform a ritual with the gold and silver in his home. He disappeared with the valuables. (Deccan Herald, 16 March 2026) How can a street vendor, who could not improve his life from being a parrot astrologer to something better, could help an educated government official?
Blinded eyes: Satan has blinded the eyes of humans so that they are gullible to untruth, falsehood, and deceit. (II Corinthians 4:4) The malady that began in the Garden of Eden will persist until the coming of the Lord. As they do not seek truth with genuine faith, they cannot arrive at truth.
Fear of power: Promotion, progress, peace and prosperity are the worldly pursuits. And they erroneously feel that the basis for such pursuit is power. One who has power will have all this. When the parrot astrologer claimed that he had the power to read or know the past, and lead to a brighter future, the gullible man believed him. He lacked discernment and common sense.
Truth is important: The Bible teaches that Truth is the source of power. Those who know the truth will be set free from all Satanic bondages. (John 8:32) All power belongs to the Holy God. (Psalm 62:11) Apart from knowing the true God, his attributes, and His word, there is no power for progress, peace or prosperity.
Fear of the future: Humans are afraid of the future, which is unknown. Mistakenly, they believe that some humans have the secret power to know, foretell, and change the future. So, they fall victim to the machinations of some people who claim to have such knowledge and power.
Personal God: The Bible teaches that only through the Lord Jesus Christ could know God, His attributes, His requirements and His promises. Those who know the living God know the One who knows, holds, directs, and sustains the future.
Do I have a personal relationship with the Eternal God?
