A two-year-old girl takes an empty cup on the tea table and rushes to the kitchen. She has observed her parents doing that. But the cup slips off her hand and breaks. The loving mother lifts the girl and kisses her. “It is ok. Sometimes it happens. You did a good job of taking the empty cup to the kitchen sink.” Love of the girl’s mother covers the lapse or shortcoming of the child. Peter writes how to behave in the house of God, demonstrating God’s love, so that God is glorified. (I Peter 4:8-11)
Sins covered: Love covers a multitude of sins as the mother’s love covered the little girl’s mistake. Minor lapses, shortcomings, little foolishness, and negligence could be overlooked. Even when there are more consequences, people of God should be willing to forgive others generously and graciously.
Show hospitality: In the light of eternity, demonstrate love by hospitality. Love, sharing, and care are the essence of Christian Fellowship. All should be done without grumbling.
Stewards of grace and gifts: God’s grace is a gift to the believers. Only they could be stewards of God’s grace bestowed upon them. God has given natural talents, spiritual gifts, knowledge, skills, and resources. Use all those optimally and minister it to one another; as well as help others who are in need.
Speak oracles of God: The privilege of Christians is knowing the Word of God, which gives them the understanding and inspiration to do the will of God. Hence, believers become spokespersons for God in the world and counselors for fellow Christians. Sadly, many Christians do not know the Scripture and hence are like dumb in the world.
Serve as God enables: God’s blessings are for service and not selfish consumption. Every Christian ought to think, about how can I minimize my comforts and be content, so that can bless others. There are always people below our economic level, who could be helped. Instead of envying those who have, give to those who do not have.
