It is common to see many people glued to their screens watching wrestlers fighting with one another, trying to pin down the other. It is a form of entertainment in the world today. Psychologically, people wish to compete and always want to win. But a whole life cannot be just competition. Sadly, the world celebrates intense, dangerous competition and celebrates victories. Simple competitions among siblings, spouses, neighbours, students, clubs, and political parties could get worse with disastrous consequences. Wars are the most harmful competition that destroys human lives, nations and civilisations.
Creation of Eve: Adam felt lonely even in paradise, the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 2:18) God said he would find a helper or helpmate. God did not create a wrestling sportsperson so that they can compete with one another. If God wanted to give a competitor as a partner, God could have created another man from dust. God created Eve from the rib of Adam, so that she would be a helpmate. Eve was neither created from the head of Adam so that she could dominate him, nor by his foot so that he could dominate her. They were to be companions, collaborators with cooperative understanding.
Helpmate: The term helpmate means to be a complementary partner. Both become complete by being of help to one another. Helpmate also means to be strength, support and rescue one another. Husband and wife complement one another with their strengths and uphold each other in their weaknesses. Being envious of the gifts and talents of one’s spouse is foolishness, will harm relationships and break the family.
Parenting: Both parents are equally responsible for bringing up their children. They help one another in teaching, training, and providing for the needs of their children, which include physical, material, financial, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Power struggles: When there is oneness and a spirit of collaboration, there is no power struggle. The ego of a husband could clash with the ego of his wife. Pride, lack of maturity, and divided purpose lead to such unwarranted power struggles.
Do I know how to live in peace by collaborating for Godly purposes?
