Defeated Dreams

Some people pursue a human dreamland ardently, diligently, and despite huge risks. For him, a wealthy country in the West was his dreamland. Though God had called him to be a pastor in his home country, he wanted to migrate. For years, he tried but could not. Then he took an illegal route, dubbed as a donkey route, and reached that country. It was a risky walk, truck rides, boat rides, and hiding in goods containers. Initially, he had to struggle, but learnt to survive, started a business and flourished. However, a sense of guilt, loneliness and being useless to God led to alcohol addiction and even a suicide attempt. His imagined dream, though attained, defeated his life.
God-given dreams: Joseph had dreams as a revelation from God. (Genesis 37:5-11) However, many Christians falsely think their own imagination, and seeing in the fourth dimension, is a dream given by God. In fact, they could be dangerous hallucinations.
Vision: People of God need God-given vision. Isaiah saw the heavens open. (Isaiah 6) Paul could see the vision of preaching the gospel, which no one had done before. (Romans 15:20)
Meaningful life: God has given life to know him, love him, serve him and glorify him. Changing nations, environments, and situations will not essentially add meaning to life. Unless a person knows God, life is just survival and counting the days. A few rich may have opportunities to enjoy momentary joy in this world, but will never have joy, contentment and peace.
Purposeful life: God has planned a great purpose for each believer. God intends them and plants them to be fruit-bearing trees beside a stream of water. (Psalm 1:1-3) God knows exactly where a person should be planted and has a purpose for them to be a contributor in the Kingdom of God. Like Joseph, God may take a person to another country to be a blessing and preserver of lives. Joseph did not choose his path, but God chose it for him. God knows and guards the path of a righteous person. (Psalm 1:6)
Do I seek Godly vision, or live in an imaginary dream?
