Foodie!

There are a few smartphone apps. People can order food of their choice from a variety of restaurants. These apps could send notifications indicating special days, and the preference of the person. On the first day of each month, it will send a reminder to indulge with the salary. Strangely, the app calls all the users as ‘Foodies.’ Most people are not foodies, yet the app designer dares to call such a name. Strangely, no one objects to this. However, when a preacher calls his hearers sinners, there is upheaval in the minds of many. An app brands all as ‘foodies’ without any rhyme or reason. When a gospel presents terms to all humans as sinners with Scriptural authority, truth as well as fact, there is opposition.
Sinners: The Bible declares that all humans have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) A person is a sinner so he commits sins. The Bible does not assume that a person is a saint or an innocent or a good, and waits to declare only when s/he sins.
Humility: When an app declares a person a foodie, they exhibit false humility to accept that unwarranted compliment. Yet, have no humility to accept the declaration or statement of God.
Confession: The Bible demands that sinners confess their nature, aspiration, and failure. None can state better than Paul did which is an experience of all humans. “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.” (Romans 7:19-20) Hence, confession is expressing the inability to overcome sin, slavery, and bondage to sin.
Repentance: To overcome sin, repentance, with firm determination to forsake sin, should seek God.
Regeneration: Lord Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, was buried, and rose again from death. He took the punishment of sin, and death on Himself and offered forgiveness of sins to become saints.
Am I a born-again saint?
