Mary heard the message from Gabriel that God will overshadow a virgin and will conceive to bear the Son of God, the Messiah. She was spontaneous to obey. However, the path of obedience was tough. To get solace, comfort, and fellowship she traveled to the home of Elizabeth and Zachariah. It was a great time of fellowship and strength for Mary with the Godly couple. (Luke 1:39-45) Godly people long for righteous relationships, mediate the Word, and are prosperous. In contrast, the wicked seek ungodly associations. Bad company corrupts the character of a person. (I Corinthians 15:34)
Comfortable with mockers: The wicked people seek the counsel of the ungodly people. They stand or take a stand with the sinners. Amid the scoffers and mockers, they are comfortable. (Psalms 1:1-3) It is a downhill process. Out of curiosity, they seek counsel. Social media offers plenty of free advice. Those who have the habit of seeking such unwarranted counsel, sadly, will take a stand along with sinners. The way of sinners would end up in death, though they look good and pleasant. (Proverbs 14:12) The scoffers and mockers speak irreverent, dirty, filthy words, the wicked are not pricked in their conscience, instead they are pleased with the environment.
Pleased with robbers:
The wicked people’s comfort with the mockers will lead them to have a new attitude. “If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.” (Psalms 50:18) Yes, they rejoice when they see a fellow wicked who is a thief. Instead of being appalled by their sinful nature and habit, they are appreciative of their skills, ability, and courage to steal. Those who get bribes, corrupt, use different weights, cheat, deceive, and do ID theft are the friends of the wicked.
Company of adulterers:
The wicked seek company with adulterers. First, they are spiritual adulterers who do not trust the true living, loving God. Second, they are adulterers who violate the covenant of marriage. They violate the Ten Commandments and the sacred covenant of marriage. (Exodus 20:14)
Do I cherish Godly fellowship or futile associations?
