I want to live, not die

Some are heartbreaking tragedies. A 27-year-old software engineer died after his car collided with a drainage boundary, which had no reflectors and fell into a 70-foot-deep ditch amid dense fog in Noida. The car was completely submerged, he screamed for help, even called his father and said: “Dad, I’ve fallen into a deep pit filled with water. I’m drowning. Please come and save me. I don’t want to die.” (NDTV 18 January 2026) Though some people tried to help him, they could not, as they did not have the tools and skills to help.
Desperate cry: The young man wanted to live, enjoy life, but a tragedy snatched away his life. The desire of all people is generally to live long. Nevertheless, many die due to natural causes, accidents or as victims of crime. Such incidents compel the living to grieve and also evaluate their own lives.
Facing death: For humans, death is imminent. No one is exempt from this. Sadly, most people think it is not nearby. They wish to avoid even conversations about death. Someone said, “Those who are not ready to die are not ready to live also.”
Fear of death: The Bible teaches that humans are captives and slaves of the fear of death. First, most people do not know what happens after death. Second, they know their life is not right according to the moral values they know. Hence, afraid to face judgment that could be after death. Third, the dead are buried or cremated. Leaving all those who are familiar, loving, and caring is an overwhelming sorrow. For those who receive the Lord Jesus Christ, they are delivered from the fear of death. (Hebrews 2:15)
Death and Judgement: All humans are appointed to die and then face judgment. (Hebrews 9:27) Those who do not deal with their sin by repentance, receive Christ, and become righteous, will stand before God and endure the second death in the Lake of fire. There is no second chance. (Revelation 20:14-15)
