Smile enhancement

A 28-year-old young man was engaged to be married. The man had an inferiority complex, and he thought his smile was not good enough. Hence, he underwent a “Smile-Enhancement” Surgery in a Dental clinic in Hyderabad, in preparation for his wedding ceremony. Sadly, he could never smile, because, during the surgery, he died. (NDTV 20 February 2024) A young man died for no purpose, his life became meaningless to him and others.

External beauty: It is sad to see many people worried about their external look or beauty or handsomeness. They are negligent about their inner life. As Lord Jesus said, they are white-washed tombs, with inner filthiness. (Matthew 23:27-28) Cosmetic surgery could enhance outward attractiveness but cannot cleanse the inner soul.

Inner charm: The need is inner comeliness. When gospel light shines in the heart, filthiness, uncleanness, sin, shame, and pollution will disappear. The blood of Christ cleanses a person from all sin. (I John 1:7) Outward enhancement does not add spiritual value to any person.

The Joy of Salvation: A joyful heart makes a cheerful face. (Proverbs 15:13) Without inner joy, there could not be cheer or smile on the face. Paul encourages believers to always rejoice in the Lord. (Philippians 4:4) Those who have intimate relationship with the Lord will be unceasing joy.

Smile Jesus Loves you: This was a slogan that was used to evangelize people. Yes, the love of God brings smiles to the faces of people. God commanded Aaron to pronounce a blessing on God’s people, reminding them that God’s face shines upon them. (Numbers 6:23-26)

Smile amid trials: Apostle James encourages believers to consider trials, tribulation, and other adversity as a source for spiritual progress. Hence count them as joy. (James 1:2-4)

Blessed women laugh: The Blessed Godly women are not afraid of the future, in fact laugh at the future. (Proverbs 31:25) That means, they face the future with a smile. Confidence in God and boldness in faith to face the future make them laugh.

Do I put on the smile always to reflect God’s love in the world?
