Titanic hit an iceberg and sank, though it was promoted as an unsinkable ship in 1912 during its maiden voyage. Ocean Gate expeditions take adventurers in a submarine, to see the wreckage of Titanic which is 21/2 miles or 4 KM under the water. Sadly, one such trip ended in a tragedy, as five people lost their lives in June 2023. Sometimes, such deaths seem to be purposeless without any meaning.
Adventurer Abraham: Abraham was called to leave his stable life in Ur, later in Haran, and follow the Lord to an unknown destination. (Genesis 12:1) It was indeed a spiritual adventure of faith. Today, Abraham is remembered as a Hero of faith, considered as the father of many nations.
Misadventure of Jonah: God commanded Jonah to go to Nineveh. He went to Port Joppa, found a ship going to Tarshish, and boarded it. It was disobedience to God’s call and mission. God commanded winds that the ship was tossed, and the captain of the ship threw Jonah overboard. Swallowed by fish, he had a free submarine ride but repented and prayed for deliverance. At last, Jonah preached Nineveh and completed his mission after the fish vomited him on the shore.
Wise Men from East: When Lord Jesus Christ was born, the Magi or Wise Men who were astronomers and astrologers saw a special or unique star. They understood that the King of Jews was born. They took an adventure trip crossing deserts, rivers, and wilderness to Jerusalem, and later reached Bethlehem to worship the Newborn King Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 2: 1-13)
David Livingstone: As a missionary, he explored central Africa. He went to those regions where Europeans had not gone before. That paved the way for many missionaries to reach out to Africa with the gospel.
Million missionaries: Receiving God’s call to take the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth, missionaries from the West traveled to East – Asia and Africa. Missionaries within nations also went to unreached areas in large nations like China and India. Now, missionaries from nations like Korea and other Asian nations take the gospel to newer areas.
Am I an adventurer for Christ?
