God desires His children to be holy, righteous, and blameless. God certified that Job was a blameless man. (Job 1:1) Today, the world needs people like Jobs.
1. Consistent relationship with the Lord (Job 29:2-5)
Job had a consistent relationship with God. He experienced loss, suffering, and rejection by friends and others. Amid his loss and sickness, he worshiped the Lord, thanked Him, experiencing faith. He confessed that His redeemer lives, and He will see Him.
2. Committed to raising children (Job 29:5)
Job was a good father. He provided for their needs and also created a space for freedom for both boys and girls to enjoy life. At the same time, he was concerned about the spiritual welfare of his children. Hence, he offered a sacrifice daily, assuming that their children would have committed sins while they had parties. (Job 1:5)
3. Commanded respect (Job 29:7-10)
Job had a reputation and was well respected. Even elderly people would stand up to show him respect. He was one of the leaders of the city, who sat on the city governing council and gave judgments. People listened to him and waited for his counsel.
4. Compassionate (Job 29:12-13)
Job did not illtreat or exploit his workers, including the servant maid. Beyond paying them their wages, he showed compassion and mercy to provide for their needs. In other words, he was concerned about the welfare of those who served him. He caused the widow’s heart to sing.
5. Care for justice (Job 29:14-16)
Job had a sense of justice. As the worshipper of the Righteous God, he naturally had a mindset that favoured justice. Oppression and exploitation were not in his attitude or work. He broke the fangs of injustice. He put on righteousness like a cloth.
6. Stability (Job 29:18-19)
Job felt that his roots were in places of minerals and water. Obviously, that is a sign of a fruitful life. He was like the blessed man who meditated on the Law Day and night. (Psalms 1:1-3) He could leisurely lie down beside his nest. It would be a glorious death.
Do I lead a holy life as Job did?
