There was a commotion on the banks of a lake. A man was struggling to keep himself afloat; he might drown and die. There were different noises and voices: “Keep trying; do not give up.” “Why did you go there? Are you a fool?” “He deserves that.” “Be careful in the future; do not fall again.” “Make a positive confession; I will survive.” There was a splash, and one man was swimming fast towards the struggling man, wrestling the tides and the weight of the weary man. He took him safely to the shore.
The crowd: On the shore, there are philosophers, religious leaders, gurus, rishis, astrologers, traditionalists, and others who could give great advice. But the sinking man does not need any of them, but someone who could extend a hand and lift him to safety. Neither religion nor philosophy has ever produced a savior.
Authentic Savior: God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to redeem the world. (John 3:16) Adam and Eve, the first couple, disobeyed and rebelled against God’s commandment. Thus, they brought sin upon themselves and all their descendants. The whole of humanity has sinned, come short of the glory of God, and the wages of sin is death. (Romans 3:23; 6:23)
Shedding of blood: Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. (Hebrews 9:22) Also, the blood of animals cannot bring cleansing of the human conscience. Hence, the Son of God, a perfect man and a perfect God, has to shed his blood for humans to receive forgiveness of sin. (Hebrews 10:4; 9:14)
Declared Righteous: The blood of Christ cleanses those who believe of all sins. (I John 1:7) And God justifies them and declares them righteous. Not just an acquittal, but declared righteous. (Romans 3:23-24)
Credible savior: There is only one savior; his name is Jesus Christ. His name is above all names. There is no other name under heaven, among men, that could bring salvation. All knees shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that He is Lord.
Do I know the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior?
