Righteous Disciples
Prophet Micah calls the people of God to lead a righteous lifestyle. It has three important principles that embrace the life of a disciple. (Micah 6:8)
Knowing God Disciples of the Lord are those who know God, have received Him, and belong to His family. The world identifies the disciples with the Lord Jesus Christ. Hence, disciples ought to live in intimacy with Him. That means to depend on Him, listen to Him, and learn His Holy and Righteous ways. Hence, they love the Bible, diligently search the Scripture, meditate on it day and night, and make it the foundation of their lives. The followers of Christ are expected to lead a humble life before God and others.
Loving people Disciples of the Lord love Him and hence love others too. The divine love they experience fills their heart and mind and also overflows to fill other empty cups. Following the Lord, they get a divine compassion for others. Hence, knowing God’s call in their lives, they diligently serve people. Knowing their talents and gifts, use them to contribute to the welfare, growth, and progress of the church, community, and the nation. They are courteous, polite, and speak words of wisdom and encouragement. They are willing to forgive others and move on with life. Sharing and caring for others come naturally to them.
Impacting your world The Lord Jesus Christ declares a repentant sinner who trusts in the finished work of the Lord as righteous. Becoming a New Creation and having inherited a divine nature, they ought to live a life of righteousness, declaring what is just, and facilitating justice in society. (II Corinthians 5:17; II Peter 1:4) It means to treat everyone fairly, not exploiting, oppressing or harassing. Christians ought to do what is right, always, in all places, whether anyone is watching or not, in open as well as behind closed doors or in secret. Like the Good Samaritan, Christians should extend help to those who are wounded, nearing death, in danger zones, helpless and powerless.
