Waiting for Christians is fruitful and brings a person to a place of usefulness and productivity. However, there are people in the world who wait, but are of no worth.
Convenient season: Paul spoke with Felix about righteousness, temperance and judgment. He was afraid, feared God, understood the message, but did not want to surrender to the Lord. As an excuse, he said, he will call Paul to discuss more at a convenient time. (Acts 24:25)
Signs and wonders: For a few, signs and wonders are important rather than the truth. Hence, they pursue that by going to various places, to people who claim to have the gift of doing healings and miracles. In their wait, they lose precious time and opportunities to grow in the Lord and be His ambassadors.
Wait to be compelled: Some people do not go on their own. They expect someone to plead with them or urge them to do the will of God. According to their mental attitude, God is obliged to them. Hence, some leader in the church should invite them to do any ministry. Godly people are compelled by the love of the Lord, as Paul was. (II Corinthians 5:14)
Wait for celebrities: Sadly, many people wait for celebrities. In the world, there are many kinds of celebrities in the realm of film, sports, business, literature, politics…etc. While waiting for a film personality, and on another occasion for cricket players, ended up in a stampede and death. Following the world, some Christians have created their own celebrities, who become false hope givers or prosperity preachers. They are friends of the bridegroom trying to seduce the Bride of Christ, the Church. (John 3:29)
Wait on the Lord: Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength like an eagle, soar on high, run and will not be weary, they shall walk or march but will not faint. (Isaiah 40:31) Sitting at His feet, like Mary, disciples should learn, meditate and apply His Holy words. (Luke 10:39-42) The Psalmist took pleasure in waiting as a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord. (Psalm 84:1)
Do I wait on the Lord to gain worthy things?
