All Armour of God

The disciples of the Lord are compared to a Roman Soldier in his full armour. Paul writes that disciples should wear the spiritual armour saturated with fervent prayers. (Ephesians 6:13-18) If only one aspect of the armour is given more importance, that would lead to an unbalanced and irrelevant Christian life.
Helmet: The salvation or being born again is described as the helmet. Sadly, some denominations teach only about repentance and salvation. The people never grow beyond salvation experience to spiritual maturing and fruitfulness.
Truth: Some Christians are committed and even obsessed with the defence of the gospel, the Truth. Hence, they focus on Apologetics and neglect the practical Christian life of being salt of the earth and light of the world. (Matthew 5:14-16)
Shoes: A few churches designate themselves as seeker-sensitive churches. They attract a large number of non-Christians. They come through the front door and escape through the back door.
Shield: A Christian life is based on faith. Without saving faith, a person cannot become a child of God. However, there are some denominations like Herod, who desire: Miracle on demand. (Luke 23:8) Their whole spiritual life is dependent on miracles, signs and wonders.
Breast plate: The breast plate of righteousness is like a bulletproof vest of modern times. Some denominations become legalistic, as were the Pharisees. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.” (Matthew 23:23)
Sword of Spirit: Some have great knowledge about the Bible, and even quote Scripture for everything. But their life is not as the Bible teaches. They are strong in Word, but wrong in deed. In a literal sense, some worship the bible, but never read to understand, and meditate to practice it.
Prayers: Fervent prayers should saturate the whole armour of God. Using all the armaments appropriately, in relation to other arms, and under the guidance of the Captain of Salvation is important.
