It is a tiny, central pit in the retina. It provides a sharp, clear, detailed, and colorful vision. Naturally, most of human vision is peripheral vision and is of low resolution. The fovea is used for things of importance; this high-resolution capacity is used to see only a few specific things. The eyes neglect certain areas of vision but focus on certain areas of importance. People of God should also have a Godly vision, which helps them to lead a life that brings glory to God.
Distinguish: Eyes could see the nose all the time, but the brain filters that out. Because the nose is an unchanging image, the brain focuses on the more important and the changing images. As believers, it is important to know what things are important and what are not. Sadly, for many believers, this distinction is not there; they see only their own nose and refuse to see other things.
Discern: Spiritual vision is to discern what is good, right, and appropriate. Believers who have their minds renewed will be able to discern the Will of God. Renewal of the mind is possible only when unwanted and unwarranted thoughts, ideas, and opinions originating from the world, culture, and traditions are deleted, and the truths of the Bible are filled in the mind. Then, as Paul writes, the will of God is pleasing, good, and acceptable. (Romans 12:2)
Discipline of Faith: Seeing the world with the eyes of faith in the Sovereign God is a discipline to be cultivated. God’s hand, His attributes, and His power are evident daily in the world. Most believers fail to recognize them. Joseph recognized God’s hand in his misery, which sent him ahead and shaped him to preserve lives. (Genesis 45:7)
Diligence: Disciples are called to be diligent in ordering their priorities. Kingdom of God and the righteousness of God are their foveal vision. (Matthew 6:33) Since they discern God’s kingdom and gain God’s wisdom to know righteousness, their priorities are different.
Do I have fovea vision or cataract vision in my spiritual life?
