A popular YouTuber, who had millions of followers, owned a garage full of luxury cars, a fast bike, plunged into a pit of despair, unable to come out, and attempted suicide. Earlier, he had said he needed encouragement and courage and had no one to seek help. He livestreamed with a theme of his driving as: Let’s go for a final drive. As 82000 people were watching online, he drove his car at a high speed and crashed into the median of the road. Many sent emojis, but could not help him. With tears, he said, “When I return in my next birth, please give me love, mummy. I desperately needed love.” He loved a girl from another caste, and his parents refused to accept the marriage even when he had touched their feet, begging for mercy, and apologized to relatives. Parents tortured him, stating they would neither be happy nor would allow him to be happy. (NDTV 8 March 2026)
Parents: Could a mother forget, forsake, harass, torture, and drive her son to commit suicide? Paul warned that people would be selfish, cruel, and without natural love. (II Timothy 3:1-5)
Caste: Sadly, for parents, caste pride was more valuable than their son’s life, his happiness, career, and future. Son’s life is sacrificed on the altar of pride and traditions.
Love: This young man was desperate to be loved, accepted, affirmed, acknowledged, encouraged, and embraced. He was partially forgotten or ignored, but certainly hurt. Sadly, he did not reach out to God who loves, cares, sustains, redeems, fills with joy and peace, more than a mother could. (Isaiah 49:15; I Peter 5:7; John 3:16)
Encouragement: He had stated that he did not get any encouragement from anyone. Thousands of people giving thumbs-up signs for his videos were not considered as applause or appreciation.
Meaninglessness: Popularity, possessions, luxury cars, a successful channel, numerous followers, and ardent fans could not give him meaning in life, and his direction of life was purposeless. That obviously leads to nihilism and suicide.
Am I on the right way to the eternal destination?
