If humans can be arrogant, so can AI—created by humans. An AI-powered Death Clock claims to predict the exact date of a user’s death. This app, costing $40 per year, has already been downloaded by 125,000 people. It also suggests lifestyle changes. The AI is trained on a dataset of over 1,200 life expectancy studies involving about 53 million participants. Factors such as diet, exercise, anxiety, stress levels, and sleep habits are used to estimate the date of death. (NDTV, 1 December 2024)
Fear of Death:
Many people fear death, but believers are delivered from this fear. (Hebrews 2:15) Because of uncertainty, people seek glimpses into the future. Those who do not know the Lord of the Future are often anxious about what lies ahead.
Fake Futurists:
Many earn a living through fortune-telling, luck-dispensing, and wealth-guaranteeing. Astrology attempts to predict the position of stars, while in some places, even parrots are used to select fortune cards. Palm reading, face reading, handwriting analysis, omen interpretation, tarot reading, I Ching readings, and trance-induced spirit communications are common divination practices. Numerology also attracts those who are superstitious, lack self-confidence, and do not know the true God. Such predictions rely on evil spirits, mystical experiences, speculation, assumptions, intuition, and imagination.
The Future is in God’s Hands:
Apostle James advises believers to acknowledge God’s authority over the future. He exhorts them to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:15) This phrase reflects humility, submission to God’s sovereignty, and reliance on His providence.
Meaning and Purpose in Life:
True wisdom is using each day for the glory of God. Only He determines the number of days allotted to each person. (Job 14:5) Moses prayed for wisdom to use his days optimally and purposefully. (Psalms 90:12)
Do I use my life for His glory instead of worrying about death?
